How to Make 15-Minute Korean Tteokbokki Using Trader Joe’s Ingredient

Hi everyone! I’m Jina, The Soulful Korean Mom living in the US. Today, I’m going to share a super easy, 15-minute Korean Tteokbokki (Spicy Rice Cakes) recipe that my 16-year-old American daughter and American husband absolutely love!

You don’t need a Korean grocery store nearby. You can find almost everything at your local Trader Joe’s!

■ Ingredients You Need:

  • Trader Joe’s Tteokbokki (Rice Cakes) – 1 packet
  • Trader Joe’s Organic Vegetable Broth – 1 cup
  • Gochujang (Korean Chili Paste) – 1-2 tbsp (You can easily find this on Amazon!)
  • Hard-boiled eggs & Green onions (Optional)

■ Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Rinse the Trader Joe’s rice cakes in cold water for a minute.
  2. In a small pot, pour 1 cup of vegetable broth and bring it to a boil.
  3. Add 1.5 tablespoons of Gochujang into the broth and stir well until dissolved.
  4. Add the rice cakes and the included Trader Joe’s sauce packet if you like it sweet and savory.
  5. Simmer on medium heat for about 5-7 minutes until the sauce thickens and the rice cakes become soft and chewy.
  6. Top with chopped green onions and a hard-boiled egg. Enjoy!

💡 Mom’s Secret Tip: If it’s too spicy for your family, add a slice of Trader Joe’s Cheddar Cheese or a splash of heavy cream on top. It makes it wonderfully creamy and kids love it!
